Christy Torkildson, Ph.D., RN, PHN, FPCN, HEC-C, has been appointed as the HPNA Liaison for the Pediatric Division of the National Coalition for Hospice and Palliative Care (NCHPC).

HPNA member Kim Mooney-Doyle, PhD, RN, CPNP-AC, assistant professor at the University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON), has been awarded a two-year R21 grant of $460,000. The grant, provided by the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR), will be used to research how understanding family communication during serious pediatric illness, from the perspective of adolescent siblings and parents, provides opportunities to prevent long-term distress.

The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation (HPNF) has published a Diversity in Health Care video series for hospice and palliative care professionals that explore fundamental considerations for end-of-life care of patients who identify as Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, or Buddhist.
